The Strive Therapists

Alison Scheepers
Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist
Alison is a dual-qualified Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist from South Africa, currently practicing in the Cayman Islands. She brings over 18 years of clinical experience across both disciplines, having worked in a variety of settings including public and private healthcare, schools, and her own private practice.
After graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 2007, Alison completed her community service at Johannesburg General Hospital and thereafter gained experience in her career her career as an Audiologist in London with the NHS. She then returned to South Africa, where she honed her skills working in both speech and hearing disciplines across diverse populations, both in a remedial school setting and a tertiary hospital. After gaining invaluable clinical experience, Alison then started her own private practice, serving both children and adults, which she successfully ran for seven years.
Since relocating to Cayman in 2020, Alison has continued to provide high-quality care in both private and government settings, including as a locum therapist at Lighthouse School. Her deep empathy towards patients, paired with her collaborative approach, has earned her the trust of families, schools, and fellow professionals.
Alison is one of few dual-qualified Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist in the Cayman Islands, uniquely positioned to offer integrated care in both areas. She is also the qualified and passionate about assessing and treating Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). As a member of the International Guild for Auditory Processing Specialists, Alison brings internationally recognized training and the latest evidence-based treatment approaches to her clients.
In addition to her clinical work, Alison is passionate about increasing access to hearing and speech services in the community. She hopes to develop a low-cost, accessible school hearing screening program to ensure that all children—regardless of insurance status—receive early detection and support. Alison always puts her patients first with kindness and compassion.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys swimming, exercising, reading, the beach and spending quality time with her family and friends. She is also passionate about lifesaving and is involved in the open water swimming community as well as “learn to swim.”

Lexi Berger
Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist
Lexi is a dual-qualified Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist with over ten years of experience in the field, having completed her training in South Africa. Her early career was shaped by her time working in a busy government hospital, where she oversaw the speech and audiology department. This experience provided her with a solid foundation in managing complex communication challenges and dealing with a diverse socio-economic and linguistically diverse population.
Lexi has pursued additional training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including PROMPT, LSVT-Loud, Hanen More Than Words program, AAC methods (alternative augmentative communication), and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to feeding.
As a mother of two, Lexi brings a compassionate, child-led approach when working with the paediatric population. She deeply understands the importance of meeting children where they are at, developmentally and emotionally. She is passionate about making therapy accessible, engaging, and tailored to each individuals’ needs. Lexi works with both children and adults, offering comprehensive support across the lifespan.
Lexi has a special interest in corporate communication, where she empowers professionals to communicate with confidence and clarity in the workplace – supporting skills like public speaking, presenting, and effective interpersonal communication. Lexi also has a special interest in children and adults who experience picky eating and more complex feeding challenges such as ARFID. In addition, she is passionate about supporting adults navigating challenges that come with neurological conditions such as: stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and Dementia, providing individualised therapy that focuses on improving cognitive-communication and swallowing to support daily functioning, independence and improved quality of life. Her practice is rooted in care, inclusivity, and a commitment to helping every client reach their full communicative potential. Enabling individuals to connect, express and thrive.
Outside of work Lexi enjoys reading, painting, dancing and spending time with her family. She is outgoing and friendly and loves meeting new people.
